What "Tharavadu" means, and why we built around it

A Tharavadu was never just a house. It was where an entire extended family's life, records, and decisions lived — everyone had a place in it, and everyone had a stake in how it ran.

That's the same shape as a residents' association: a self-governing group of people who share costs, decisions, and responsibility for the place they live. When we named this product, we weren't reaching for something evocative — we were describing what we were actually building: one place your whole community belongs to.

Most community-management software treats a residential society as a security checkpoint with a billing module attached. We think that's backwards. The gate matters, the billing matters — but they're functions of a community, not the definition of one.
